Suggestions For Living A Healthier Life

By Dr Graeme Teague

There is such a desire for better health that people in the western world will try anything. People are willing to try pretty much anything that is a miracle cure to better health, than to actually change their life. There are so many tips and tricks that people want to remember that they actively stress themselves out and undo all of their hard work in the process. It is not that difficult to become healthy, if that is what you truly want for your life. Any life can change for the better by eliminating certain things and adding others. You will be amazed at how quickly little changes work. Here are some small, stress free ways that you can increase your health.

Read, listen or watch something that tickles your funny bone. Chuckling dilates the blood vessels by greater than 20%; an analysis done at the University of Maryland establishes this fact. This, in turn, lowers your blood pressure. More rewards await you also: chortling lightens your frame of mind, supports you in dealing with chaos and loosens your muscles (but assuming you are often laughing, the muscles in the face could be painful, although it's worth the pain you might feel). A familiar motto is, "laughter is the best medicine" and it is factual. Unearth methods to bring about laughter. Better health will be a result.

A pet will be good for you! It has been proven that people who have pets, and interact with them, live happier and healthier lives, even fish will lower your blood pressure. There have been plenty of studies to show that elderly people, especially, who have at least one pet, are much happier. Pets not only give you someone or something to take care of, but they give unconditional love that is greatly needed. If you are allergic to pet dander, there are hypoallergenic pets that you can adopt from breeders. There is now a way for you to be happier by having a pet, and not having your allergies bother you.

When you eat broccoli, you should steam it. They do look a little like a miniature tree, so maybe that is why broccoli isn't everyone's favorite food. If you do eat broccoli though, steaming it raises its glucosinolates by as much as thirty percent. Glucosinolates are compounds that have been found to have cancer fighting properties and broccoli is full of it. People don't always think about how they cook something, so they wouldn't even know that boiling broccoli makes the glucosinolates less.

You can become healthier in a variety of ways, and each one will improve your lifestyle. Being healthy takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice if you consider the teachings of diet gurus and popular culture worth listening to. If you want the truth, this isn't it.Being healthy doesn't have to mean living a life that leads you wanting. Typically small changes and smart choices are all you need to worry about. As long as you have common sense, you will be able to control your appetite, which is the main thing that gets your life off course.
